Ordinary People, Extraordinary Heritage

Welcome to a celebration of Reading’s living history.

Rather than focusing on high-profile figures or formal gallery staging, this exhibition takes to the pavement to capture the raw, dignified presence of ordinary Black individuals who live, work and shape our town every day.   Shot in monochrome, these portraits strip away the distraction of colour to focus entirely on the genuine expression, character and shared humanity of each subject.   My practice centres on real visibility and democratic storytelling.   By turning fleeting street encounters into monumental portraits, this collection ensures that our everyday community is authentically seen, valued and represented directly within the civic spaces that belong to them.

‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary Heritage’ may be viewed at: CultureMix Arts and Music Centre, Queens Walk, Reading and Reading Biscuit Factory, Queens Walk, Reading.
